Fonterra Maungaturoto WPC dryer safety upgrade
Electrical installation for a major dryer safety-system upgrade incorporating a new
Allen-Bradley safety PLC, six remote safety panels, E-stop wiring to 26 DOL starters, 19
VSDs, nine heater banks, burner controls and air-dump interfaces.
The works also included ATEX CO monitoring, fire-system and fire-pump interfaces,
instrumentation, cable support, EEHA documentation, testing, verification and
commissioning support.
The project was delivered on time and on budget within an
operational dairy facility.
2024 to 2025
Fonterra Kauri HVAC PLC and switchboard upgrades
Replacement of two HVAC switchboards, including associated submains, earthing, testing
and certification, together with the replacement of seven HVAC PLCs using Allen-Bradley
FLEX 5000 distributed I/O.
Our work included power, control and instrumentation cabling, field I/O, pressure
instrumentation, control valves, fans, VSD interfaces, Ethernet and fire-system
interfaces, along with point-to-point testing and commissioning support.
2023
Fonterra Kauri Natural gas safety project
Bream Bay Electrical was the main electrical contractor for safety-critical natural gas
detection and isolation systems serving the K1 and K2 dryer air heater rooms.
The scope included CH4, CO and O2 detection, Drager Regard 3900 panels, PLC and HMI
interfaces, beacons and sounders, Modbus TCP, analogue and discrete I/O, and hardwired
shutdown logic.
Projects like these draw on the whole of our industrial
electrical capability, and in particular the PLC, instrumentation and safety-system work
described on our automation and
instrumentation page. All three were delivered under the client's permit-to-work,
isolation, inspection and test plan and document control systems.
